We are currently seeking an experienced professional to fill a position as Combination Technician for our Cooperative located in Cloverdale, IN.

In this role, you will be responsible for performing installations and troubleshooting and repairing customer telephone and data services from the ONT to the customer’s equipment for single, multi-family and/or commercial dwellings including all necessary wiring (interior and exterior) and hardware.  This individual will also be responsible for educating the customer on the proper use of services, including how to add additional services and access help online.  The applicant must be detail-oriented and able to meet deadlines as well as handle confidential information.  On-call hours will be available to perform tasks, responsibilities, or special assignments required by the system during non-business hours. 

Responsibilities include:

  • Install new services and equipment for subscribers by installing drop wires, cat5 wiring, station protectors and network interface devices. 
  • Skilled at reading cable records, staking sheets, and networking diagrams.
  • Maintain and repair existing services and equipment by using test sets to locate line trouble.  Determine necessary repairs which may include repairing wiring, station protectors, ground connections, running new wiring, and replacing jacks.  Installs and maintains fiber electronics.
  • Will locate all fiber cables within our exchanges.  This includes trunk fiber and cross-country fiber.
  • Maintain fiber pedestals using pea gravel, weed killer, and mouse poison.  Will also maintain lettering on pedestals and warning signs-replacing as necessary.
  • Confer with customers to further determine problems and acceptable resolutions.  Educate customer as necessary.

Qualifications include:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Knowledge of telecommunications plant operations and network operations
  • Knowledge of digital switching technology a plus
  • Must be available for a work schedule of Tuesday through Saturday
